The color of an item name in your inventory is its rarity. Gray is the lowest, purple is the highest you can normally get, and orange is almost out of reach. Tiers almost never change once an item is released, so you can learn them once and keep them.
Rarity and value are different things. A rare item can be worth more than a legendary one if players want it, so use rarity for how hard it was to get and value and demand for what it trades for.

Common, Uncommon, Rare and Legendary
These four fill your inventory first. Every box gives them with fixed chances. In the Halloween 2026 box the split is 70% common, 18% uncommon, 8% rare and 4% legendary, as of October 2026.
You can also craft up. Twelve Common Shards give a random uncommon, twelve Uncommon Shards give a rare and twelve Rare Shards give a legendary. Legendary is the last tier where crafting is simple.
Godly
Godly weapons are the first tier players really care about. Godly names are pink, and chromas are counted with them. According to the wiki, there are 124 of them, 85 knives and 39 guns.
Sources: boxes, crafting, game passes, events, trade and old codes. A box godly usually drops with a 0.2% chance, which is one in 500.
Chroma
Chroma weapons are shiny versions of godlies. Since Season 1, each box has the chroma of its godly with a very low chance. For Halloween 2026 it is 0.004% for the chroma Embersickle.
Older chromas from 2018 and 2019 lost value after the duping glitch of 2019. Newer ones, starting from Chroma Candleflame, were hit by the Candleflame Glitch of 2021 and the duping glitch of 2022.
Ancient
Ancient weapons are mostly scythes and bows. They are given through event battle passes or game passes and have never dropped from a box. There are four ancient guns: Harvester, Icepiercer, Gingerscope and Emberbow.
Emberbow and Emberscythe became the first ancient chromas in the history of the game in October 2026.
Unique
Unique is the top tier: most of them can no longer be obtained. Almost all of them were given for leaderboard places and cannot be traded. The one tradable unique is Corrupt.
Vintage
Vintage is a set of ten weapons from the original Murder Mystery. You can only get them by trade, and you cannot salvage them into materials.
Evo
Evo weapons grow in rarity as you play, from rare to ancient, for a total of 864,000 XP. They come from game passes and cannot be traded. Full details are in the Evo weapons guide.
Pets
Pets have their own box, with the usual tiers from common to legendary. Some pets, like the Pumpkin from 2017, came with old codes.
Rare items hide in the plain tiers too
Rarity says how hard the item was to get at the time, not how much it is worth now. Event items that are no longer sold become scarce, and the low tiers can hide a few of them. Look up every item you own before you assume that gray means worthless.
The Misc section collects the items that do not fit the tiers above. If you want to see everything at once, use the full table.
