Rare in MM2 means two different things: few copies exist, or few copies can ever exist again. The items below are rare in one or both senses. Where nobody has published a count, I say so and give no number.

Nik's Scythe: 7 known owners

Nik's Scythe is an ancient knife, and by common agreement the rarest item in the game. The developer, Nikilis, gives it personally to friends and to people who report bugs. The wiki confirms 7 owners. If anyone else ends up holding one, the scythe is removed from them.

It cannot be earned or bought in any normal way, so the number in the table, 250M, says more about how much people would pay in theory than about real trades.

In August 2026 one scythe was stolen from its owner for the first time. Nikilis returned it to the owner and took the thief's account. That story spread through the news accounts, and in October a YouTube video about "stealing" the scythe drew hundreds of thousands of views.

Corrupt: about 63 before the dupe

Corrupt is a unique knife given to the players hit by the Data Loss Glitch in 2014. Before the 2017 dupe there were around 63 owners. Today there are thousands of copies.

It is also the only unique item that can be traded. Anyone who holds more than 20 Corrupt is banned when they rejoin. Its set includes the Luger gun. For the full story of how it multiplied, see the dupe history.

Unique: 63 items, 60 of them closed

The unique tier is the highest. It has 63 items. Of those, 60 can no longer be obtained, and almost all of them were given out for leaderboard places and cannot be traded. Corrupt is the one tradable unique.

So a unique that is not Corrupt is rare in the strongest way: you cannot get it and you cannot buy it from a player.

Leaderboard trophies: Gold, Silver, Bronze

Every event with a leaderboard gives its top places a coloured version of the event's best weapon:

  • First place: Gold.
  • Second place: Silver.
  • Third place: Bronze.
  • Top 100: a coloured version of its own, for example Blue.

That means one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze of each weapon per leaderboard. Examples: Gold Harvester, Gold Icepiercer, Gold Gingerscope, Gold Snowcannon and Gold Emberbow. The Halloween 2026 leaderboard rewards are the same pattern, and players complain that bots fill the board. The community answer is that bots are banned at the end of the event.

I cannot give you a count of copies still in existence for any of these, because nobody has published one. What is certain is that each started with one per place.

Ancient: 16 items, from events only

There are 16 ancient items, mostly scythes and bows. They come from event passes or game passes and have never dropped from a box. Four of the ancient items are guns: Harvester, Icepiercer, Gingerscope and Emberbow.

Their rarity changes with the event. Harvester, the first ancient gun, is Harvester. Look at the ancient list for the others.

Vintage: ten items from the original game

Vintage items come from the original Murder Mystery. There are ten, they can only be obtained by trade, and they cannot be broken down for materials.

Other items players call rare

Players also point at some Chromas. YouTuber rustynickle40 called Chroma Traveler's Gun the most expensive godly: Chroma Traveler's Gun. That is one opinion; for the real current order check the most expensive items.

Rare is not the same as valuable

A trophy that exists once can still have no buyer. A common that millions have can be worth a lot because everyone wants it. The value of an item depends on demand as well as on how many exist. That is why I would always check the item on its page before assuming rare means expensive.

Questions players ask

How many Corrupt are there?

About 63 before the 2017 dupe. Today there are thousands.

Can I still get a unique item?

Most uniques, 60 of 63, cannot be obtained any more. Corrupt is the exception and can be traded.

What are Gold, Silver and Bronze weapons?

They are leaderboard rewards for first, second and third place in an event. There is one of each per leaderboard at the start.

Can I trade Nik's Scythe?

It is given by the developer to friends and bug reporters. If someone else ends up with one, it is removed.

How many ancient items are there?

Sixteen. They come from event passes or game passes, never from boxes.
