MM2 trade check for parents: is your child's trade fair?

In Murder Mystery 2 children swap virtual weapons, and the swaps can be lopsided. You can check any trade in a minute without playing the game.

Parents ask about this more often than you might think. One father wrote that his daughter gave away two of her best weapons and got two cheap ones back. He wanted to know where he could look up a table. This page is that table, and a short guide to what is behind it.

I have played and traded in MM2 since 2018. You do not need to know the game to follow this.

What a trade is in MM2

Players can swap weapons, pets and some other items with each other inside the game. A child clicks another player in the list and presses Trade.

A few facts that help:

  • Trading needs level 10. A new account cannot trade.
  • Up to four items can go in at once.
  • Effects, emotes and radios cannot be traded. If someone claims to be selling one, that is a lie.
  • The items are virtual. They are not money, but children treat them as if they were, and they are worth a lot to them.

What "value" means

Every item has a value, a number that says how much players agree it is worth in trades. Children say "this knife is 500 val" or, in Russian, "валюты". The value comes from how many people want an item, how rare it is, and how steady its price stays. Players set it, not the game's developer.

That is why a pretty weapon can be worth very little and an odd-looking one can be worth a lot. A lopsided trade is one where your child gives more value than they get.

How to check a trade in a minute

  1. Ask your child which items they are giving and which they are getting.
  2. Open the trade calculator.
  3. Add the child's items on one side and the other player's on the other.
  4. Read the result: win, fair or loss.

If the calculator says loss, the trade is bad for the child. It does not mean the other player is a scammer. Many children simply do not know values. But it is a good moment to talk.

Values move every day. A new item often drops fast in the first days, so a trade for a brand-new weapon should be checked again later.

Signs that a trade is a scam

Here is what to watch for. The full list of ten scams has details.

  • The other player rushes your child, or says they have to leave.
  • The item in the window changes just before the final button.
  • The trade offer comes from a different account than the one that showed the item.
  • Someone sends a link, or asks your child to join a group or log in again.
  • A stranger offers a huge amount for an item and asks to meet in another game.
  • A "streamer" offers to upgrade a weapon if your child hands it over.
  • Anyone asks for the password, a code from an email, or anything "to verify".

A trade that stays in the game, in a normal server, between two named players, with a calculator check beforehand, is the safe kind.

What to set up in Roblox

Roblox has account settings made for parents. Set these up with your child, not behind their back.

  • Parental controls in Roblox settings: they let you limit chat, spending and other features for a child's account.
  • Two-step verification on the account, so a stolen password alone is not enough.
  • A strong, unique password that is not used anywhere else.
  • Chat settings. One of the most-read MM2 threads in 2026 was a parent whose child had been told something cruel in chat. Many players recommend turning chat off for younger children.
  • Spending. If a card is linked to the account, know what for. A bundle in MM2 costs 3,399 Robux at the moment.

Buying items on outside sites

You may find that your child is buying MM2 items on a shop website. Roblox rules forbid buying game items outside the platform, and stolen items and fake shops are real risks. The page on item shops explains the rule and what players report.

What to talk about with your child

A few questions that work better than rules:

  • "What did you trade today, and what did you get?"
  • "Who asked you to trade? Did you know them?"
  • "Did anyone send you a link or ask you to log in?"
  • "If something goes wrong, will you tell me? I will not be angry."

That last one matters most. Children hide a bad trade because they fear losing the game. If they know that telling you gets help, not a ban on playing, they will tell you early. Early is when anything can still be done.

What to do if the child was scammed

Take the evidence first: usernames, a screenshot of the chat. Report it to Roblox support. Change the password and turn on two-step verification if there was a link or login involved.

Do not promise the items will come back. Getting items back is rare. One player was told by Roblox support to contact the game's creator.

Questions players ask

Are MM2 items worth real money?

Inside Roblox they are virtual items with no cash value. Roblox rules forbid selling them for money on outside sites.

Is MM2 safe for kids?

The game has chat, trading and scams, as many Roblox games do. Set parental controls, limit chat for younger children and talk about trades.

Why does my child say an item is worth a number?

That number is its value in trades, set by the player community. It shows how much other players want it, not what it cost.

Can I get stolen items back for my child?

Report to Roblox support, but returns are rare. Items are usually not restored.

What level does my child need to trade?

Level 10.
