Trading in MM2 takes one minute to learn and a few bad deals to master. This guide covers the window itself, trade servers, the words you will hear (add, overpay) and a way to turn a common knife into a godly. I trade with chromas and I have lost a deal or two at the start, so I will tell you where people usually slip.
Open a trade window
Click a player in the list at the top right and press Trade. Both of you drop items in and both press Accept. Three rules to know:
- You need level 10. Trading has been limited to level 10 and above since 28 December 2021. It was added to stop duping.
- Weapons and pets can be traded. Effects, emotes and radios cannot. A green Bat that looked rare turned out to be a plain Bat with a Wrap effect, and the effect did not move with it.
- Expect about four items per trade. Players in 2026 asked the developer to raise the limit, so bigger deals are split into several trades.
Not sure whether your trade is fair? Put it into the trade calculator before you press Accept.
Check both sides before you accept
Most scams in a trade window are quick. Players report three tricks in 2026:
The last-second swap
A chroma is replaced with its plain version just before Accept. The simplest defense is to read both sides again every time the window changes and to treat any "add one more" request as a reason to stop and recheck.
The trade from a different account
They show the chroma on their main account, but the trade comes from an alt that holds the plain one. Compare the username in the trade with the one you were talking to.
The false value
A player says "my gun is 65, yours is 38". Do not argue with numbers from memory, look them up. The calculator link ends the argument.
Trade in trade servers
A trade server is a private server where players meet only to trade. Coins do not spawn there, hardcore and assassin modes are off and no XP is given, so nobody is farming and you can talk. Lists of values keep their own trade servers, and there are nine for one list and fifteen for another.
Russian-speaking players type "трейд сервера мм2" about fifteen thousand times a month, so it is a very common question. The short answer:
- Find the community. The official MM2 Discord has over 600 thousand members and has channels for trade offers, and the communities of the big value lists have their own.
- Pick a trade server from their channel, copy the link and join.
- Say what you have and what you look for in one line, then wait for offers. Do not spam.
A rule of thumb that has saved me more than once: agree on a trade server before the deal and do the deal there. When you meet at a random public server, a stranger can lead you anywhere. Never open links from private messages, and never log in anywhere from a link someone sent you, because fake Roblox login pages are common.
How to join, why a server will not let you in and which "trading server" links are traps: see the trading servers guide.
Ask for an add, offer an overpay
An add is when the other player adds something to balance the deal. An overpay is when you give a bit more than the values require, because you want the item badly.
Overpay for items in high demand, not for items that merely look cool. Ask for an add when the calculator says LOSE, and ask for a specific thing: "can you add a small godly or two commons?".
Haggle without drama
Short rules that work:
- Open with an offer you can defend by the numbers. If the calculator says it is fair, say so and send the link.
- Counter with a different item before you counter with more of the same.
- Say no once, politely. If the other player keeps pushing, leave.
- Do not accept a trade just because someone says it is a good deal. Players call a trade "not a scam, but" and then argue for 200 comments.
Climb from common to godly
You do not need Robux to get your first godly. You need time and a ladder. The pattern is to trade up in small steps and every time to an item with higher demand.
One player went from Leaf to a rare, then a collectible, then Eggblade and then Darkbringer in three days, about eight hours of play. A Russian creator turned a common into Evergreen in a week and got 427 thousand views for it.
What makes the ladder work:
- Start with items someone wants. Five legendaries that nobody asks for are hard to turn into a godly, and many players learn this the hard way.
- Use the calculator to stay on the FAIR or WIN side at every step.
- Pick the next item by demand, not by the picture.
- Be patient. Some steps take several hours of waiting for the right partner.
My own take: do not try to jump from common to chroma. The steps in between are where you learn who to trust.
